# Gratitude It's underrated, slept on, and a massive superpower. What is it? For me, it is a simple practice of... - Journaling about what i'm grateful for when i wake up - Telling people i'm grateful for them when i remember to - Saying what i'm grateful for to my lady before we sleep (and vice versa) Foundationally, this incredibly easy thing to do unlocks so much good and great in my life, I can hardly believe more people don't do it too. It gives perspective on the things happening in life. For example, when my Dad died unexpectedly of a heart attack on February 21, 2021, it was the most horrible thing that has ever happened to me. He was 60, about to retire, I was 27, and he was the person I was closest to in the world. It was literally my biggest fear, and it happened. Not the only, but the most important thing which got me through that time was returning to gratitude. Instead of being haunted by the "how could he have been taken from me so early" thoughts, I was able to reframe into "even though he was taken too soon, I'm so lucky to have had him for the time that I did." It provides us another path, an alternative to anger, sadness, pain, etc. These things are all important to life, but we don't need and shouldn't allow ourselves to be consumed by them. Gratitude is the solid ground we can stand on to weather the storm. There's so much to be said about it. More to come.
